Zen & the Arts - Field Notes

Amaryllis Fletcher

Growing up in midwestern winters and long Colorado mountain summers seems to have led Amaryllis (aka Amy) to meditation long before the concept of it appeared to her.  After years of music study and performance she encountered traditional Japanese style Zen at the Rochester Zen Center.  Formal meditation practice and awakening became rather an obsession which luckily, over time, self-destructed bit by bit.  Gently landing and hanging with Pacific Zen Institute for almost two decades now, she continues to teach violin and enjoy making music with friends young and older in Denver, CO.  She likes being outdoors and walking and playing with her dog, clear and cloudy days and nights, the feel of air and water.  And she keeps on listening and wondering.
